Knidos
Situated at the tip of the Datca peninsular, where the Aegean meets the Eastern Mediterranean, Knidos was an important port as far back as the 6th Century B.C. Originally Caryan, its strategic value saw to it that it was also, at various times, Greek, Persian, Alexandrian and Roman.
Even in the 4th Century B.C., Knidos was a tourist attraction with people travelling hundreds of miles to visit the Temple of Aphrodite and see Praxiletes' statue of The Goddess Surprised While Bathing. It was also famous for the quality of its wine, and as the birthplace of Sostratus, who designed the Lighthouse of Alexandria.

The extensive ruins of the city run right down the hill to (and into) the harbour and, although there is little else here other than the museum, a police post and a restaurant catering to visiting yachts, it is worth the trip if time allows. If there isn't time to sail here, get a dolmus or taxi from Datca.

Possible same day destinations from Knidos are:
Westwards
- This is as far as we can go on a 2 week charter.

Eastwards
