The Gulf of Yesilova
The sandy floor of the Gulf of Yesilova gives the water an intense turquoise colour that will make you want to tug out your camera. It is a good place to sail, windsurf, dive and swim. It has a number of small bays and villages which also makes it an idea overnight stop.
Among these are:
|
Bozburun
A small town with a harbour, Bozburun used to be a centre of the sponge fishing industry. Nowadays, it is famous for the gulets that are built here.
It has several restaurants, two of which also offer showers and a laundry service. There are a number of shops and a bakery for hot, fresh bread.
It is also possible to get fresh water and electricity when mooring at the quay, but you might need to get in early as the harbour can get quite crowded.
|
Sogut
This is a small village, mostly summer houses, with a harbour where it is possible to get fresh water and a shower. There are also two restaurants.
Above the village is an ancient fortress and it is worth the walk up the hill for the superb views it gives over the Gulf of Yesilova and the Greek island of Simi.
|
Kizil Adani
Kizil Adani has a couple of anchorages on its lee side and also boasts a ruined Byzantine castle. Although it is uninhabited, it is in "RIB range" of Bozburun or Sogut.
It is also a very popular spot for diving.
