Tilos

Tilos is off the beaten track and not overun by tourists; it is a lovely, peaceful place to visit. As the population of the island is only a few hundred, don't expect crowded bars and night clubs. That is one of the big attractions of the place.

The main anchorage is at the small town of Livadhi where a new breakwater has greatly improved what used to be an uncomfortable harbour. Along the bay there are a number of tavernas and a couple of bars, all of which are friendly and relaxed.

Tilos, Dodecanese, Greece It is also possible to rent a moped and go exploring the interior of the island which is much prettier than would seem possible from just offshore, especially in the Spring. There are several medieval castles scattered across the island and a Byzantine monstery.

If you don't want to rent a moped, there is also a bus service that will take you up to Megalo Chorio, the main village, where there are the remains of a large Crusader fortress. The views from here are stunning.
